Bikini Trends

Some bikini trends come and go quickly with each passing summer, and others stick around for years and years.  It’s hard to know which way the winds will blow with a particular trend, so there’s a choice at hand.  Buy a cutting edge, fresh-on-the-scene design and hope you will get to wear it longer than a month or two, or go with one of the enduring styles that have already established itself as a swimwear staple.  The latter option will end up meaning you have more options in your closet, so let’s take a fresh look at some of the trends that have stood the test of time.

Of course we have to start with the swimsuit that is really synonymous with the word bikini.  The classic, triangle cut top with full coverage bottom is what most people picture when someone says the word bikini.  The top almost always ties or buttons around the neck and back.  The bottom provides full coverage in the front and back while the sides will likely vary from swimsuit to swimsuit.

A couple of other bikini trends that have stuck around a long time are the bandeau style top and Brazilian bottoms.  The bandeau style top is generally a single band of fabric that wraps around the top without any strings or hooks.  The style has also been updated to sometimes include a design of sorts in the center of the front.  This gives breaks up the line as the top wraps around the front and also a little cleavage exposed for added appeal.  The Brazilian style bottom is one that will likely not leave the fashion scene anytime soon.  It’s perfect for those who want something between a g-string and a full bottom!

These are just a couple of the long standing bikini trends.  There are new styles coming on the market all the time.  So whether you go with one of these class cuts, or you go avant-garde with your new look, you’re sure to be styling this summer!
